Woman sheds 100 pounds for the Army

Karyna Douglass is on a mission. She dreamed of joining the Army, but when she found out she didn't meet the weight requirements she decided to lose 100 pounds.
It all started last year on her birthday, when she went on a whale watching trip.
That's when she noticed the others on the boat idolizing the Coast Guard. She then started toying with the idea of joining the Navy.
She still had one big problem to face.
"My physical activity consisted of me walking to the store to get candy," Douglass said. So she decided to get serious.
She started working out with a Beaverton sergeant. Every day, she worked out two or three times and ate the right foods.
After spending so much time with soldiers, the 23-year-old decided the Army was for her.
Douglass said, "I fell in love with their world. I fell in love with the bonds that I created with these people. I fell in love for what they stand for."
It wasn't an easy task. She remembers struggling at times, but she pushed through.
"I had days where I remember, I don't want to work out, I just want to sit on the couch and eat pizza. I just can't do this. I had days like that. I had weeks like that," Douglass said.
Now she can't wait a day without working out and is looking forward to the next chapter in her life.
It has taken one year and three months, but she has shed 110 pounds and is set to be sworn in on Dec. 12.
She said, "I want to be in it as long as I can. I want to take the uniform and run, and see how far I can go with it."
As for words of advice, she encourages anyone trying to lose weight to surround yourself with people who will support you no matter what.
