As we thaw out from winter, spring offers inviting weather for a hike. Before you head out on the trails make sure you have these essentials for a spring hike.
Bring the right clothing: While we might think we can dress in just a few layers in the spring, the temperatures may be lower than you think. To prepare for the weather make sure you bring clothing that keeps sweat and moisture away from your body. Also, bring water-resistant clothing in case it rains or in case the trails are wet from melting snow. Make sure you also bring heavier clothing to battle against dropping temperatures.
Map: During the spring there could still be snow covering the trails, which could make it hard to navigate through the paths. Bring a map or a compass to help guide you through the trail safely.
Bandages, first aid items: Even if you’re hiking on a relatively safe path that you’re familiar with, in the spring our feet might not yet be accustomed to heavy walking. Bring some bandages and supplies along with you in case you suffer from blisters while you’re on the trail.
