Bonneville County deputies say a 21-month-old girl died after being left in a vehicle Tuesday.

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho -

A 21-month-old girl died after being left in a vehicle Tuesday.

Around 5:15 p.m., Bonneville County deputies responded to 600 Block of S. Belle Arbor Drive in Ammon. Sgt. Jeff Edwards said paramedics performed CPR on Elizabeth Randall when her situation was discovered.

Elizabeth was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and did not survive, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Edwards said the cause of death is unknown at this time.

Deputies said the last time a child died in a vehicle in Bonneville County was in 1994.

"It's a pending investigation and an autopsy has been scheduled," said Edwards. "Once this has all been investigated, we'll make a report to the prosecutor's office, and they'll make a determination on whether there is a reason to charge."

Detectives continue to investigate.

The autopsy and forensics should take a couple of weeks to complete.
