Two Idaho Falls men got into a fight over copper Monday evening, deputies said.
The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said Dwight Wilkinson, 76, and Gary Fichthorn, 65, were collecting metal to recycle at the Hatch Pit after it was closed for the night.
The two started arguing over a pile of copper on the ground. Deputies said Fichthorn picked up a piece of aluminum door frame and hit Wilkinson in the left arm, knocking him to the ground. Fichthorn then hit Wilkinson in the face, the sheriff's office said.
Wilkinson called 911 for help, and deputies had to cut the gate's chain to get in.
Fichthorn was arrested on an aggravated battery charge and was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
