Driver arrested after attempting to hit a pedestrian
A Lewisville man was arrested Monday night after attempting to strike another man with his pickup in a Rigby parking lot.
Justin Ribaudo, 19, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of malicious injury to property, one count of leaving the scene of an accident, and one count of carrying an open container.
According to Rigby Police, Janet Fortine, 23, of Rigby said she was standing in the Broulim's parking lot at 150 N. State with Wesley Pelton Jr., 31, when Ribaudo's pickup charged at them. Fortine said Ribaudo's pickup struck her car then tried to hit Pelton several times before running into a chain link fence. Ribaudo left the scene while police were on the way to the scene.
Pelton was treated in the parking lot by the Rigby QRU for minor injuries. He told police he was hit by the pickup at least three times.
Ribaudo was located and stopped by a Jefferson County deputy on the Annis Highway at 8:25 p.m. Monday.
Fortine told police she and Ribaudo had recently broken up.
