A Pocatello man accused of beating his wife to death was in court Thursday, but he won't be back for another three months.
Michael Lane Sparks arrived at the courthouse in a wheelchair, wearing a back brace, and casts on both legs.
He's still injured from the car accident that happened the night of Judith Rachel Johnson's death.
His lawyers argued it will be a long time until Sparks is fit for trial, and Judge David Kress moved the court date to Aug. 2.
Sparks has two new public defenders, chosen because they're certified to handle capital cases, which could involve the death penalty.
