Octaveyan and Tayana need to be adopted into a loving family.

PORTLAND, Oregon -

These adorable siblings are Octaveyan and Tayana. Legally free, each child was placed in foster care at birth. At the time Tayana was born, there was room for her in the same foster home where her brother Octaveyan was living, and the children have lived together since then.

A two-parent family would be the best fit for Octaveyan and Tayana, especially a family with no other children under the age of three. While Octaveyan appears to be on target developmentally, Tayana has developmental delays which include cognitive, motor, and speech/language areas. Because of Tayana's young age, it is much too soon to be able to predict what the future holds for her. The family chosen to adopt Tayana and Octaveyan will need to be able to meet each child's very different needs, and be strong, proactive, optimistic advocates for Tayana?s overall development, while also being fully prepared to accept her exactly as she is if she never catches up to her chronological age.

While some parenting experience, especially with children who have developmental issues would be ideal, the essential component for success is that the adoptive family be 100% committed to the children's holistic growth and development and to keeping these two siblings together.

Octaveyan and Tayana have had a very positive, loving, and stable foster home and are at a perfect age to make a transition to an adoptive home. They have enjoyed the stability and consistency of one foster family since birth and have demonstrated that they both have excellent social and attachment skills.

Octaveyan is very cute and energetic. A typical toddler, he's an outdoorsy kind of guy. He loves hanging out with his foster family's pet dogs. Octaveyan is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle with his foster mom and listen while she reads stories to him; she tells us that Octaveyan is an easy going youngster and a delight to parent.

Tayana is a rather shy toddler with the cutest little grin and a sweet personality that readily win the hearts of those around her. She loves to be cuddled and held and to be in the midst of whatever is going on in the family. She also likes being around her brother and the other child who lives in her foster family and imitates their play.

Tayana is now walking and climbing and loves to play outside on the jungle gym equipment. While Tayana has just a few words in her vocabulary, she has been able to communicate her needs quite well non-verbally through her body language. Tayana is developing a very nice sense of curiosity about the world around her and is beginning to explore her surroundings. With her healthy appetite and ability to sleep well, she is basically a very contented toddler, albeit one with developmental delays.

Octaveyan & Tayana are available for adoption through the State of Oregon. For contact information, email the Idaho CareLine or call 1-800-926-2588.
